We aren’t kidding.  Did you know that meatballs are one of the most popular menu items globally.  As we discovered during our meatball challenge this week, this item can be prepared in different ways to suit different tastes and preferences. 


But more than popularity and taste.  We also discovered that if done the right way, MEATBALLS can be an incredibly profitable item on your menu. 


Here are THREE reasons you can be profitable with MEATBALLS: 

  1. Freshly prepared: Meatballs can be made using ground meats, which are often more affordable than other cuts of meat, making them a cost-effective menu choice. If priced correctly, this can lead to a profitable item that is also delicious. 
  2. Ease of sharing: Sharing isn’t a bad thing.  This can be a great addition as an appetizer, with great margins and an item that can be cost effective to your consumer.  
  3. Nostalgia: For many people, meatballs are associated with childhood memories or family gatherings, evoking a sense of nostalgia.  As we head into the fall, this can be a great LTO item that provides another lunch/dinner option on your menu, while also reminding your customers of great memories in their past. 


Our challenge to you is a simple one.  If you haven’t done so in a while, TRY your meatballs.  Chances are, with the supply chain shortages in the past, your product has changed in recent years.  But to do meatballs well, we want to make sure we are preparing the meatballs FRESH, and avoiding the frozen products if we can as these have dramatically increased in price for a lower quality product. 


This is the underlying goal of our FOODIFY movement.  Without TASTING the meatball, you may have continued on, believing there is nothing that can be done to improve profits in this area.  And yet by TRYING, and EXPERIMENTING, and being unrelenting in our quest to FOODIFY your business, we discovered a gem in the meatball.  Much better margins than we would have thought by making one change.  A fresh product over a frozen product.  And 15 minutes later, we had a recipe card, and a product with a 10% savings.
